What is Linen? [read more]

Linen is a Natural, cellulosic fibre made from the stem of the flax plant, one of the oldest plants and oldest textiles in human history.

“We regard Linen as the best quality fabric because…” [read more]

“The stiffer yarn with natural slubs offers the finished garment a unique rich texture that adds dimension to any outfit. The fabric itself is also more lustrous (brighter & slightly silky) and dyes very well. And it is famous for its antibacterial properties.”

Linen is highly absorbent and dries quickly wicking moisture away from your skin – offering exceptional breathability.

Constructed out of hollow fibres, linen acts as a natural insulator – keeping you cool in the summertime and warm in the dead of winter.

The strong flax fibres also make it extremely durable and more winter ready.

Linen softens the more it is used and washed and can last decades when cared for correctly.

What is Rayon? [read more]

Rayon Fabric is made from artificial silk and not classified as either entirely synthetic or entirely natural since it is made from highly processed plant materials.

‘We often choose to work with Rayon because… [read more]

Rayon is a great option if you are looking for a lightweight material with a nice drape, a lustrous finish, and a soft feel that is easy to dye. We love it because it conveys luxury at a slightly lower price point.’

As a plant-based fibre, Rayon is not inherently toxic or polluting. Unlike polyester, Rayon is highly absorbent & highly breathable – ideal for cool summer dresses & high-quality jerseys where breathability is essential for ease.

Rayon also prevents sweat marks on your shirt by absorbing it into tiny micropores in the fibres themselves – locking it away.

100% COTTON is a Natural, cellulosic fibre made from the cotton boll (the round, fluffy clumps) which grows on a cotton plant.

‘We prefer Cotton because it… [read more]

3 Resists static electricity build-up

4 Wrinkles easily

6 Is durable, and unique in the fact it can actually improve with time

How to care for my Linen Rayon Cotton garment? [read more]

Most Linen Rayon Cotton products are machine washable at no more than 20C. We recommend hanging the product straight from the machine, shaking out the creases and shaping it back into position before leaving it to dry. There is no need for ironing as creases and wrinkles are part of the character of the fabric.’

Does Linen Rayon Cotton shrink?  [read more]

‘Linen Rayon Cotton tends to shrink. It is a natural fabric – you should expect your Linen Rayon Cotton garment to shrink a bit after the first wash.’

Why are Linen Rayon Cotton clothing so expensive? [read more]

‘Linen is expensive because harvesting linen and turning it into fibre is a much longer and more difficult process than with other fabrics. Unlike other plants, the flax plant cannot be mowed, but must be pulled up by the roots.

Furthermore, the inelasticity of the strong flax fibre causes it to break easily in the production process pushing production costs up.’

‘Cotton is becoming very scarce because other more profitable crops are replacing many cotton fields and incremental weather are diminishing the cotton supply.’

‘Rayon is also no longer a cheap fabric as it is imported & subject to large duties, so clothes made from it can sometimes cost more than linen or cotton.’
